Rogers Centre Ottawa and Ottawa Tourism Launch Lend-a-Lanyard Program

Ottawa, ON – May 30, 2025 – Rogers Centre Ottawa, in collaboration with Ottawa Tourism, is excited to launch the Lend-a-Lanyard Program—a new initiative that supports sustainable event practices while helping reduce single-use waste.

Designed with both the environment and event organizers in mind, the Lend-a-Lanyard Program allows conferences and events hosted at the Centre to borrow reusable, eco-friendly lanyards at no cost, cutting down on material waste while aligning with Ottawa’s broader commitment to sustainability.

Program Highlights:

  • Sustainable Materials: Lanyards are crafted from 100% recycled materials and co-branded with Ottawa Tourism and Rogers Centre Ottawa.
  • Free for Organizers: No rental fees, with a return target of 85% to ensure the program’s ongoing success.
  • Sanitized & Event-Ready: All lanyards are professionally sanitized using electrostatic sprayers between uses.
  • Collection: Lanyard Collection bins provided for your event.

“This is a simple but impactful way for organizers and attendees to make a difference,” said Josh Verch, Director of Marketing and Partnerships at Rogers Centre Ottawa. “It’s about making sustainability easy, accessible, and part of every event we host here.”

“This initiative is a great example of what happens when local partners come together with a shared goal,” said Mary Sayewich, Director, Strategy and Project Management at Ottawa Tourism. “It reflects our destinations growing leadership in responsible tourism and sustainable event planning.”

By joining the Lend-a-Lanyard Program, organizers are helping reduce waste and move toward a greener future—one lanyard at a time.

To participate, organizers can connect with their Rogers Centre Ottawa Event Services Manager or email marketing@rogers-centre.ca to request lanyards for their event.

Tips for a Successful Lanyard Return:

  • Let attendees know about the program early
  • Work with Rogers Centre Ottawa team to locate ideal high traffic placement areas for return bins
  • Use signage to encourage drop-off
  • Get staff or volunteers involved in collection efforts
