Although capacity limits have increased to 100% in meeting and event spaces. Gathering in a room full of people may bring some of us anxiety and stress, but at the Shaw Centre, we’re here to put those stressors at ease.
Throughout this blog, we’ll uncover various health and safety initiatives implemented over the past several years to make you and your guests feel comfortable and safe while visiting the Shaw Centre.
Victory Electrostatic Sprayers & Backpack Sprayer
Introducing our hands-off disinfectant! The solution is charged as it passes through the nozzle of the sprayer. The mist that sprays out contains positively charged particles that wrap around all surfaces, resulting in a coating of disinfectant on the sprayed object. This sprayer is an excellent option for hard-to-reach surfaces, and we’re ensuring cleanliness in every crook and corner!
UV Scanners for Escalator Handrails
Worried about holding the handrail on the escalator due to potential germs? We’ll alleviate that stress with our new UV scanners that use UV-C wavelengths to eliminate germs on the handrail surfaces and sides. A fully guided handrail passes through the modules as it runs, giving constant exposure to UV-C sterilization.
Needlepoint Bipolar Ionization (NPBI) for Elevators
Since we have over 92,052 square feet of usable meeting space over four floors, navigation is often easiest via elevator. That’s why we’ve introduced the NeedlePoint Bipolar Ionization (NPBI) to provide clean and healthy air inside our elevators. This innovative technology uses an electronic charge that creates a high concentration of positive and negative ions; the generated ions travel through the air inside elevators and attach themselves to pathogens, including viruses and bacteria. Contact with ions disrupts pathogens’ surface proteins, rendering them inactive and unable to replicate, ensuring the air you’re breathing is as clean as can be! This air purifying system is installed for all passenger elevators throughout the centre.
Needlepoint Bipolar Ionization (NPBI) air purifying system for all Air Handling Units (AHU)
We’ve installed an air-purifying system attached to the central air circulator and other air circulation fans throughout our building. This system purifies the air by eliminating airborne particulates, odors, and pathogens. This is an identical process to the NPBI described above within the elevators.
Automatic Flush Valves
We’ve introduced a touch-free-flushing system with AutoFlush® Clamp installed on all our toilets and urinals. The automated flushing system, ensures toilets and urinals are consistently flushed, odor-free and presentable. Sensors will detect when the user approaches and will auto flush when the user leaves the area. This feature allows one less point of contact and adheres to our cleanliness standards throughout our facility.
Environmental Consciousness Remains a Top Priority
One of the Shaw Centre’s main pillars is environmental sustainability. We pride ourselves on our ecological consciousness as we strive to make the most negligible impact on the environment as possible.
All of the products mentioned above are environmentally friendly and safe. We use EcoLogo sanitizers and implemented new Diversey EcoLogo products proven to be effective against COVID19 and safe for the environment. The Needlepoint Bipolar Ionization (NPBI) technology generates the same ions as the environment creates with lightning, waterfalls, and ocean waves. Mother Nature uses energy to break apart molecules, which is nature’s way of naturally cleansing the air.
