OTTAWA, ON – Dozens of sponsors, charities and community partners, over 2,000 volunteers and as many as 200,000 spectators will be celebrating Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend’s 44th anniversary.
Shaw Centre is proud to be the host of the Tamarack Race Weekend’s Health and Fitness Expo from Thursday, May 25 to Saturday, May 27 which features race kit and t-shirt pick-up, fundraising pledges drop-off for those raising funds for the Ottawa Hospital Foundation, Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend souvenir clothing, and a large variety of exhibitors showcasing the latest running gear from running sponsors the Running Room, Saucony, Nuun Hydration, and Timex.
The two-day running event includes seven races, all of which start and end at Ottawa City Hall: a 1.2 km kids marathon, 2K, 5K, 10K, half marathon, wheelchair marathon, and marathon. Over 40,000 participants take part in the races each year, and this year marks the 8th year (since the re-opening of the facility) Shaw Centre plays a major part in this Ottawa Spring Tradition.

ABOUT TAMARACK OTTAWA RACE WEEKEND
The 2018 Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend will take place May 26-27 and will welcome participants in six races, including the Scotiabank Ottawa Marathon, the Scotiabank Half Marathon, the Ottawa 10K, the HTG Sports 5K, the Aquahaulics Ottawa 2K and Scotiabank Ottawa Kids Marathon. In 2017, runners raised $826,175 for local and national charities through the Scotiabank Charity Challenge.
The Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend is one of only two running events in the world to host two IAAF Gold Label races: the Ottawa 10K and the Scotiabank Ottawa Marathon.
ABOUT SHAW CENTRE
The Shaw Centre was founded as the Ottawa Congress Centre in 1983.
