Shaw Centre launches unique gastronomic offering: BY55 – Lazy Monday dinners

Capitalizing on its unique main-floor culinary preparation and presentation space called crEATe Kitchen, Shaw Centre launched an innovative new offering this fall. The rationale was simple: it can be hard enough to find motivation on a Monday and by the time you’ve made it through the work day, cooking might be the last thing on your mind. That’s why Executive Chef, Patrick Turcot, with the support of visiting chefs from some of Ottawa’s top establishments, is now delighted to offer this unforgettable gastronomic experience at Shaw Centre.

The first three events, featuring guest chefs Rene Rodriguez, Joe Thottungal and David Vinoya, were sellouts; tickets for the scheduled 2020 dates (the first Monday of each month; February 3rd, March 2nd, April 6th, May 4th and June 1st) are already going fast. For the very reasonable price of just $85 per person, guests enjoy a welcome cocktail and an amuse bouche, followed by a three-course meal with wine pairings. Taxes and gratuity are included.

What makes the BY55 – Lazy Monday dinners so special is that they are intimate and interactive, with just 16 seats available. Guest have ideal sightlines right in front of the chefs to watch as they assemble and plate the meal. “These dinners offer an exclusive experience to see some of our city’s most accomplished chefs in action,” notes Chef Turcot. “Throughout the first dinners we saw guests genuinely enjoying our informative descriptions of where the food came from, how it is being prepared and how the flavours complement each other. My local friends in the culinary community are proud to come here to prepare and serve the best ingredients, with flair.”

BY55– Lazy Monday dinners are proving to be very animated, no doubt due to the guests having a shared passion for savouring good food. Whether you come alone or as part of a group, you will feast on lively conversation in addition to an exceptional meal.

As one guest who has attended all three dinners so far (and has registered for all available 2020 dates) explains, it is the perfect evening for a group of foodies to gather. “The setup is unique and welcoming and price point makes it an unparalleled opportunity to be wined and dined by attentive staff, for an extremely reasonable cost,” says Angela Kuester. “I organize a dinner club which taste tests restaurants across the city. However, I am so enthralled with this wonderful concept that Shaw Centre has created that rather than dragging ourselves around the city three times a month, we now attend the BY55 event instead and have the chef and dinner come to us. It truly is a decadent and worthwhile Lazy Monday!”
