Winterlude 2026: Ottawa’s Winter Magic, Just Steps from Your Conference

Winter in Ottawa comes alive each year with the return of Winterlude, Canada’s signature cold-weather celebration.

In 2026, the festival once again transforms the capital into a season-long playground of ice, snow, music, and culture, proving that winter is something to celebrate, not escape.

Whether you’re visiting Ottawa for business, attending an event in our facility, or planning a winter getaway with family or friends, Winterlude offers an unforgettable way to experience the city at its most vibrant.

Discover Winterlude’s Iconic Locations

Winterlude takes place across several of Ottawa–Gatineau’s most recognizable landmarks, each offering a unique take on winter fun.

Rideau Canal Skateway

Nothing defines Winterlude quite like skating on the Rideau Canal Skateway, the world’s largest naturally frozen skating rink. Stretching more than 7.8 kilometres, this UNESCO World Heritage Site becomes a scenic highway of skaters, laughter, and winter energy. With the canal’s entrance located directly in front of our building, it’s easy to step outside, lace up, and enjoy a skate between meetings or events.

Confederation Park

Confederation Park serves as the festival’s creative core. Here, visitors can admire intricate ice sculptures crafted by international and Canadian artists during the Ice Carving competitions. As evening sets in, illuminated sculptures create a striking winter gallery that’s perfect for photos and leisurely strolls.

Snowflake Kingdom at Jacques-Cartier Park

Across the river in Gatineau, Snowflake Kingdom delivers pure winter fun for families. Towering snow slides, playful snow mazes, and hands-on activities make this site a favourite for children and the young at heart. Keep an eye out for the Ice Hog mascots, who bring extra personality to the experience.
