NGO Pre summit for Social Development

The NGO Coalition for Social Development, established approximately one year ago to facilitate the greater inclusion of grassroots voices within the SWSS, is organizing a pre-summit to be held on the ancestral, traditional, and unceded territory of the Anishinaabe and Algonquin Peoples in Ottawa, the National Capital Region of Canada, from August 25 to 29,2025 at the beautiful Roger Convention Centre: 55 Colonel Drive, Ottawa, ON K1N 9J2.
The event will be a historic gathering for over 700 delegates actors across the global including parliamentarian, government official, civil society, NGOs, Indigenous Peoples, aging, people with disabilities, people of African descent, youths, women, children, community leaders, religious leaders, academia, social workers, trade unionist, advocate, and human rights activist, etc.
They will come together and agree by consensus through civil society and grassroots consultations, develop a common position paper regarding language suggestions and text negotiations of the draft “Foot for Thought” United Nations Political Declaration, in preparation for the Second World Social Summit (SWSS) in November 2025. The primary outcome be the inauguration of the annual civil society initiative, “Common Space,” which serve as a platform to connect and amplify advocacy efforts, contribute to shaping an inclusive global agenda, highlight and urge government to act on the world’s most pressing social and development challenges, thereby establishing a foundation for shaping a new social development ecosystem.
