Collaborative Network Meeting & Étre vu.e Quebec Report Launch

 Date: January 29, 2025

The Collaborative Network meeting was a significant gathering aimed at discussing the latest research from the Black Screen Office (BSO). The new report, Étre vu.e Quebec Report, will be released on February 25th during Black History Month.

The Collaborative Network was initiated by the BSO to ensure the directives from the Being Seen reports are implemented across the industry. These directives focused on improving the representation of Black, racialized, 2SLGBTQ+, and people with disabilities in the screen industries. The Étre vu.e Quebec Report will explore the Quebec media landscape and its impact on these communities, providing actionable insights to drive meaningful change.

Key Components of the Report:

  • Quebec Media Landscape: Exploring Quebec’s history, immigration patterns, and media consumption.
  • Quebec Audience Representation: Dissecting stereotypes and comparing progress with the rest of Canada.
  • Authentic Storytelling: Addressing performative representation and tokenism.
  • Community Directives: Providing powerful directives for a more inclusive media landscape.
